Savannah the Savvy Shopper

Savannah got $30 for Christmas from relatives. She REALLY wanted to go to "Super Wal-mart" today to buy a playdough set that she saw a few weeks ago and a train. We didn't see the playdough she wanted so we went to the clearance aisle. These train sets were on clearance for $15 each. When I told her that she had enough money for both, she was so excited! There was no way that I could have talked her out of it. She didn't want to look at anything else.

Painting Christmas packages

Every year we wrap our gifts in brown paper and paint the packages. We all really enjoy it!

The Annual Nelson Family Christmas Picture

This is us today, December 23, 2007. Taking a family can sometimes be a challenge to get everyone dressed and happy long enough to take a few good pictures. I got really smart this year when we took the picture. First we prayed and then we took 5 pictures. We picked the best of the 5 and this is what we got! I don't think that anyone was miserable. Savannah didn't want to cooperate so we told her that if she was good, we would take a picture of her with her Teddy Bear. She just got this Teddy Bear in the mail from her Nanny. She named her Day.

Ward Christmas Party

Last night was our annual Christmas Party at church. The theme was
"Tune up for the Holidays" and our program was a Talent Show.
This is the second year for our Christmas Talent show. The kids really enjoyed being able to share their talents. We hope you enjoy the video clips! I'm sorry for the poor lighting.
You will be able to hear the music better than see the videos.

Oboe Trio: Kasey, Kelli & Nathanael playing "Cast a Christmas Spell" from Harry Potter.

Savannah singing "The Nativity Song" with Kelli accompanying her on the piano. I was showing her pictures to help her remember the words.

Nathanael playing his favorite Christmas song on the oboe and the piano.

Barbara playing in a violin trio. This is the first time I've played in a long time. I really should play more. It was fun!

Nathanael's on the radio!!!

Nathanael's class got to choose careers and spend a day shadowing someone with that career. We contacted a local radio station and Nathanael spent a couple hours learning about Radio Broadcasting. Nathanael described the experience by saying, "It was very interesting. The Station Engineer answered a lot of my questions. I got to meet the boss of the whole company. I got to report the weather and introduce a song. I was on a talk show with a police officer. He also had student shadow with him. I got to make a voice recording to take home. I generally learned about the things that go on at a radio station. It was awesome!"
