Nathanael won his school geography bee, took a written test and was invited as one of 100 students to go to the state competition held at the Field Museum in Chicago. He is the first student from our school district to advance to state. On the day of the state bee, the students (4th – 8th graders) were divided into 5 groups of 20 for a preliminary round of 8 questions. The students with the most correct answers advanced to a tie breaking round to select 10 finalists. During the preliminary round, Nathanael answered the first 5 questions correctly! The questions got progressively harder. Many of the competitors had been to the state competition numerous times. We were so pleased with Nathanael’s accomplishment, but more importantly, he had a great time!
